Connect TikTok Ads to Claude and Claude Code

A TikTok Ads MCP connection lets Claude request advertiser reports and inspect campaign settings through Adport. Begin with the advertiser and environment you intend to review. A small reporting task establishes whether you have the right account before you move to delivery status or budget proposals.

Choose the advertiser and environment

TikTok API access is tied to an application, its permissions, and the advertisers it can reach. For local setup, you need your app ID, app secret, and advertiser access token. Select sandbox or production consistently with those credentials. A sandbox grant does not connect a production advertiser.

Use the advertiser ID from account discovery, not a business name that happens to look similar. Agencies should match that ID to the client's Ads Manager before requesting reports. If you are testing an integration, keep the sandbox connection clearly named so its sample data does not appear in a live client review.

Connect TikTok and register the MCP server

In Adport Cloud, connect TikTok where the provider is available in your workspace, save the advertiser selection, and enable agent access. Then add the hosted server to Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user adport https://app.adport.dev/mcp

Run /mcp, select Adport, and finish project authorization. The shared Claude Code setup guide explains hosted and local connections.

For the open-source path, follow the TikTok API prerequisites and run the connection wizard. Register the local process after account discovery succeeds:

npm install -g adport
adport connect tiktok
adport doctor
adport accounts --provider tiktok
claude mcp add --transport stdio adport -- adport mcp

Keep app secrets in the wizard or documented environment configuration. Claude needs access to the connected tools, not a pasted copy of the advertiser token. TikTok publishes its API for Business reference for app access and advertiser behavior.

Start with a campaign performance question

Use Adport to list the TikTok advertisers available to this connection. For the advertiser I select, report campaign spend, impressions, clicks, and available conversions for the last seven completed days. Show currency, period, missing metrics, and any provider errors. Do not change campaigns.

Read the advertiser ID and period before the interpretation. If conversion data is unavailable, ask Claude to explain that gap rather than ranking campaigns by a fabricated CPA. A report that contains clicks and spend can still help investigate delivery, but it does not prove which campaigns generate profitable customers.

Choose a comparison window that fits the campaign objective and observed conversion delay. A recent decline can be an investigation lead without being enough evidence to pause a low-volume campaign.

Inspect budget mode and delivery status

Ask Claude to list campaigns with their current objectives, budget modes, and delivery states. The connector maps a paused campaign to TikTok's DISABLE operation status. Keep the platform's actual state visible when reviewing an assistant's proposed pause.

A budget amount needs its scope and currency. Before requesting an increase, identify whether the campaign uses a daily or lifetime budget and whether an ad-group setting controls the delivery you are investigating. Do not assume every TikTok entity accepts the same budget operation simply because a normalized report uses a common campaign column.

Preview a specific supported change

Try this prompt
Inspect the TikTok campaign we selected and prepare a preview of the agreed status change. Show advertiser ID, campaign ID, current status, requested status, and policy adjustments. Do not apply the operation.

A local TikTok preview is a plan, not TikTok server-side validation. The platform can still reject an approved operation because of account permissions, budget rules, or campaign eligibility. Review the preview and authorize only the intended operation with matching arguments.

After application, request a fresh campaign read. A successful call and an accepted delivery change are different from a measured performance improvement. Give the campaign an appropriate observation period before attributing a change in results to that action.

Resolve empty results at the right layer

If there are no advertisers, check app authorization and the environment selected during connection. If advertisers appear but reports fail, check report permissions and the requested metrics or dimensions. In Cloud, also inspect the saved advertiser selection and project authorization. Repeatedly expanding the date range will not fix a denied permission.

See the TikTok Ads MCP guide for the provider's capabilities. For another short-form platform, the Snapchat and Claude guide explains ad squads and swipes, which should retain their own definitions when compared with TikTok results.
